Today we departed Barcelona and traveled to Montpellier, France by speed train. What was not known until we boarded was that there wasn't any substantial compartments for luggage. With 14 big travel bags, 14 backpacks and Gurkiran's red man bag, we basically took over the entire train car placing the other passengers luggage where needed. Disembarking the train was eventful as we had to get all of our bags off before the doors closed. Many of the stops are not long as the train is almost like a skytrain journey as passengers get on and off in different cities and countries much like a Metrotown to Granville Sreet journey. Fortunately, the train was held for us, allowing the last bag and water bottles to be taken off of the train before the train continued on to it's next stop. After check in we all explored the quaint and picturesque city centre. The contrast in architecture from Barcelona to Montpellier is stark. The buildings in Montpellier are very majestic and grand.
Today was take a breath and relax day as there was nothing athletic scheduled. Tomorrow we go on our walking/tasting tour of Montpellier and possibly followed by a game against a club team here in Montpellier. It should be fun.
